Sandra Waxman
Sandra Robin Waxman (born 1954) is an American cognitive and developmental psychologist. She is a Louis W. Menk Professor of Psychology at Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois and director of the University's Project on Child Development. She is known for her work on the development of language and concepts in infants and children.
==Education and career==

Waxman received her bachelor's degree from the University of Pennsylvania in 1976. She earned her master's degree from Johns Hopkins University in 1981 and her doctorate from the University of Pennsylvania in 1985. In 1992 Waxman left Harvard for Northwestern University's Department of Psychology. Along with Douglas Medin, she cofounded Northwestern's Program in Culture, Language, and Cognition in 2000.〔 The program involves several schools and departments at the university, and supports research on the relationships between language, cultural processes, and higher cognitive processes.〔(【引用サイトリンク】url=http://www.clc.northwestern.edu/ )〕 Waxman also holds a joint appointment in the School of Education and Social Policy at Northwestern.〔(【引用サイトリンク】url=http://www.sesp.northwestern.edu/profile/?p=88&/SandraWaxman/ )〕 In 2013, she was elected as Fellow at Northwestern's Institute for Policy Research.
Waxman is the recipient of numerous national and international awards. She was awarded a James McKeen Cattell Fellowship to support her work about how young children from different cultures come to understand the natural world, and a Guggenheim Fellowship for her exceptional scholarship.〔 In 2008 she received the Ann L.
